Anthony and Simon
To watch Anthony in a jiu jitsu match is like watching someone breathe. He looks like he knows exactly what to do. His moves flow and he appears so confident in his abilities. I guess that's why his record is 42 wins and 3 losses. We have travelled twice from our home in Ontario, Canada to Carson, California in order for him to compete in the distinguished Kids Pan Am tournament. He won the Teen 3 Green Belt Heavy Weight division gold medal two years in a row. Simon in following in his brother's footsteps. He began jiu jitsu when he was 4 years old. Simon is small for his age, but in spite of this, he was moved to the kids 7-8 class at his club when he was 5. He is now 7 and Anthony has started training him in kickboxing. Last week Mr. Anthony had Simon doing squats with a medicine ball at the gym. That is something that I never thought my 7 year old would be doing, but I guess that's the kind of thing you should expect when you are an MMA parent.

At the age of 6, our oldest son Anthony started his career in martial arts in the discipline of Taekwondo.
After becoming a blackbelt at the ripe old age of 10, he changed to the discipline of jiu jitsu. Who would have known that by age 15, he would have won provincial competitions in jiu jitsu and a national title in kickboxing? Our 7 year old son, Simon, and our 4 year old daughter, Myrna, have followed in their brother's footsteps and train in jiu jitsu as well. My husband and I spend almost every weekday at the gym watching our kids train and most weekends are spent at tournaments or taking kids to training. We are officially MMA parents.
